Dermaroller

Dermaroller

Medical Micro Needling or Skin Needling uses a disposable device to make thousands of small punctures in the skin surface. The treatment is recommended for improving the appearance of:

  • acne scarring
  • fine facial lines and wrinkles
  • wrinkled skin in the décolletage area
  • aged and sun damaged skin
  • stretch marks

How does the Dermaroller treatment work?

The treatment consists of rolling a small roller impregnated with multiple fine stainless steel needles repeatedly across the area. The device leaves thousands of microscopic columns in the skin surface. The 'damage' stimulates the skin to repair itself by producing collagen, elastin and new skin cells, regenerating the existing skin with brighter, younger looking skin.

Will Dermaroller work for me?

Dermaroller treatment is suitable for most people although it cannot be used if there are wounds or cold sores present, or any active skin conditions. Most people find the treatment quite comfortable, and report visible improvement in the condition of their skin after treatment.

Is the Dermaroller treatment safe?

The treatment is safe. The punctures in the skin are very fine, leaving the skin effectively intact, and reducing the risk of infection. Minor bruising may appear occasionally, and very rarely scabs may form.

How long will the Dermaroller treatment take and is it painful?

An anaesthetic cream is applied before treatment to numb the area and prevent discomfort. The anaesthetic cream will take about 45 minutes to take effect, and then the treatment will take a further 30-45 minutes, depending upon the area being treated. It will take up to 6 weeks for the visible signs of the skin regeneration to become apparent.

Usually a course of 3 treatments at intervals of about 6 weeks will be required to achieve optimum results, although in cases of severe acne scarring further treatments may be required.

Clients comment that the treatments is not at all painful. The treated area may appear red, like mild sunburn, for a few hours after treatment, but will rapidly fade. The skin may feel warm and tight for a short while following treatment.
